Age: 32
Backstory: Link to the Wiki! Personality: +
Default emotional state and temperament: Viktor is a composed, even tempered man at first regard. His more persistent and bold nature are quick to reveal themselves beyond that. He is not one to mince words or speak around a problem. Addressing issues directly is a way he asserts himself. A problem solver, Viktor is unafraid of consequences in most circumstances where he stands to gain knowledge. Both an intelligent and witty man, Viktor comes across highly scholarly, but not exactly stuffy. He's quick to make a wry joke and play along with the humor of others. There is some morbid playfulness to him, contrasted to his otherwise mature and academic presentation. He can be particularly reckless with himself, the type to see safety regulations as mere suggestions. He is also a boundary pusher in regard to social expectations, scientific pursuits, and hierarchy in general.
+
Motivations and goals: Hungry for knowledge and understanding, Viktor is driven by his ambitions. He is a busybody in the sense he always needs to be working on something. Productivity is something he will sacrifice other aspects of his life to achieve. He's a man with no work-life balance, only work. Most often he is working with his mind, but Viktor also has the skilled hands of an engineer and innovator. He prefers to do things for himself rather than delegate. Even with his close partner, Jayce, he will rarely ask for help outside of extreme circumstance.
The dream that Viktor and Jayce have always shared is simple: to help people. Viktor grew up in the poverty stricken Undercity beneath Piltover, also known as Zaun, with poor health and a physical disability. This didn't stop him from crawling his way up in society, without forgetting where he came from. He seeks to make life more equitable and safe for all of Piltover and Zaun through Hextech innovation. Unfortunately, he has been ill since childhood (doomed-by-the-plotitis) and he is aware that is own lifespan is drastically shortened as a result. Viktor desperately seeks to save himself so he can have the time to accomplish his goals of helping others. He has an unyielding attitude of "what do I have to lose?" towards himself when taking risks.
+
Regrets and fears: Viktor builds a device called the Hexcore hoping that it can cure his illness. Beyond that, he hopes it can be a salvation for others. During his experiments, the Hexcore consumes and kills his assistant, Sky Young. Viktor is devastated by this accident and loss, despite being dismissive of her not long beforehand. Viktor attempts to destroy his invention himself, able to immediately recognize he has taken his experimentation too far. Extending risk beyond himself is a step over the line.
However, he is fused with the Hexcore at this point and unable to destroy it himself. This haunts him to the point of contemplating suicide, though Jayce interrupts the intrusive thought. Viktor is fearful of what the Hexcore could become or be used for, making Jayce promise him that it will be destroyed.
+
Breaking points: Doing harm to others is a hard line to cross for Viktor. He helps develop Hextech in order to makes tools and means of transport, but condemns the idea of using it for weapons when asked. He is outraged and uncompromising on this, scolding Jayce for even considering it as an only option. His attitude is that "they are scientists, not soldiers" and their inventions should reflect that.
Viktor is deeply hurt by two particular events, both involving the death or harm of someone he cares for. The most recent is Sky's death, causing Viktor to break down weeping and lash out at his only chance to continue living. He would rather perish than allow the Hexcore to cause any further harm.
The prior event was in his childhood, when he aided in caring for a dying creature named Rio. When Rio deteriorated too far, the mad chemist Singed that had cultivated her mutation kept her alive through torturous means of preservation. This shocked and devastated a young Viktor, driving him away from his mentor. Viktor would only seek Singed's council again in his utmost desperation to live.
+
Values: Nobody believes in Viktor the way Viktor does. No matter his circumstances, Viktor does not make excuses for himself nor for others. He meets challenges head on and with intense focus. With his mind and the correct tools, he trusts he can accomplish anything he sets out to do. This fervent drive is something Viktor also admires in others, finding his match in Jayce's inspiring passion for magic. Together, they spent many years harnessing the arcane into Hextech. Shared values and devotion to their dream of making life better with their inventions binds the two together. When these values diverge between Viktor and Jayce, it is clearly devastating to Viktor, making him more self destructive.
+
How do they handle change and trauma? Viktor is a transhumanist who is pretty hype on physically altering his body. Both his leg and hand have been fused with the Hexcore into a bio-mechani-magical state. He had once fully intended to change himself entirely, but he lacked enough variant-shimmer to accomplish this endeavor. If it wasn't for Sky's death, Viktor would have fully embraced a new body for himself to escape the limitations and expiration of his human form. He is fine with change so long as it is on his own terms and by his own will. (He is revealed to be a hypocrite on this point, with a god complex, later in the series than I am playing him from.)
Powers/Abilities: +
Engineering Prowess: Viktor is a master of the mechanical. He is a highly educated and practiced engineer renown for his innovation. Even if he's unfamiliar with a certain technology, if he's given time and the tools to take it apart, he could definitely put it back together. Likely with improvements! Viktor is very capable of building new or existing devices from scratch and scraps. He grew up in Zaun, the Undercity, where people work with very little means to make incredible technology like Chemtech prosthetics.
Relatedly, if there is a tool around, Viktor can use it. Rudimentary or power tools are both in his wheel house. Pretty simple, but very useful skill to have in a variety of scenarios. He can also recognize the correct tool for a job and potentially make that tool if necessary. This extends to rudimentary suturing of skin and sewing of leather, as he was mentored by a biochemist with a penchant for stitching together flesh for his creatures.
+
Arcane Insight: Viktor has been tapped into by the arcane, the magical forces that exist on Runeterra. While he cannot harness magic outright, he is attuned to it and can recognize the presence of magic innately. Magical forces can also disorient him or backfire on him if he's not careful. His right hand and right leg are both
hexcorified, turned into metallic, shimmer purple raw tendons. Magic runs beneath that flesh, sparking and visible between the sinew. These two parts of his body will be naturally more reactive to magic if he is nearby any. Neither transformed part of him grant any special powers beyond this and provide him normal human strength, though his leg does not always have high functionality.
+
Quick Study: With Viktor's naturally high intellect and training from higher education, he is very quick to learn and pick up new knowledge. He can put ideas and theories together with relative ease within a logical or magical framework. Viktor is very adaptive when it comes to learning, having experience with both mechanical expertise and study of arcane magic for Hextech.
Inventory: +
His Academy Uniform. (Includes: necktie, vest, button up shirt, undergarments, slacks, dress shoes, and a single glove.)
+
Talis forged cane. A custom made crutch of highly sturdy metal, armpit height with a hidden compartment in the lower handle.
+
Leg brace. A metal brace that extends down from his upper thigh to his foot on his right side.
+
Chest brace. A leather and metal brace that wraps around his chest and locks into anchors bolted through Viktor's spinal column. Helps support his back.
+
A coin-sized, metal cog. A sentimental item Viktor keeps in his pocket.
Game Plans: Very stoked on Viktor getting to go on a slower paced descent into becoming a monster. Arcane S2 has a super breakneck speed in doing that to him, so I felt it was more compelling to start him here from a S1 canon point. I'd like to do a similar, if not precisely the same, arc in this new setting to what happens in his canon. A villain-arc is very desirable. I would enjoy him slowly losing sight of his values and justifying worse and worse actions in the name of (what he sees as) helping people. Also, growing more and more corrupted by his connection to the arcane, through his hexcorified leg and hand overtaking him.
Monster Choice: +
First Choice: Swarm, though I don't know what kind of Species he would really fit into for the traits I'm interested in. The general traits of the monster align well to turn him into his
Herald of the Arcane form. I'm interested in levitation, a third arm on his back, chitinous armor, strength, hivemind powers, and the extra eyes. He's just very bug as the Herald.
This option is a big reason I wanted to join this game with Viktor. S2 he becomes a cult leader with control of a hivemind of people who came to him for healing. Viktor really does believe he has healed them, too. His mindset becomes gradually more and more corrupted down this path of thinking. Viktor's transhumanist ideals twist into robbing away the humanity of those who are suffering and seeing that as a mercy.
+
Second Choice: Angel (Celestial), works for a more
Savior of the Arcane Viktor vibe that I could go for. Angelic, but at what cost.
+
Third Choice: Gargoyle (Volare), this matches some of the traits for the Herald that I'm looking for. More of an old school "Machine Herald" Viktor if the stone elements can be metal.
Vehicle Choice: A very beat up and scarcely functional
Cybertruck, he will make it
Accessible.
